Turning SMS Messaging On or Off for Your Brand

How to enable or disable SMS messaging for your brand from Site Settings, and what changes for staff when it's off.

If your brand doesn't want SMS sent on its behalf — for example, while working through a carrier issue — you can turn SMS off entirely from Site Settings.

1. How to enable or disable SMS messaging

  1. Sign in to a PlayerFirst website.

  2. On the left navigation, click Site Settings > Site Settings.

  3. Click the Communications tab.

  4. Under the Communications section, find Enable SMS Messages and check or uncheck Enable.

  5. Click Save Settings.

NOTE: This setting is on by default. Turning it off applies to your brand only.

2. What changes when SMS is disabled

When Enable SMS Messages is unchecked for a brand:

  • Staff composing a message from Communication > Create Message no longer see the Transactional SMS or Transactional Email and SMS filter options — only Transactional Email is available.

  • The quick-email compose window no longer shows its SMS-only or email-and-SMS sending options.

NOTE: This setting does not affect the “Phone on Account” verification option shown during multi-factor authentication or one-time-code login. That option is currently hidden for all brands regardless of this setting — see below.

Quick reference

  • Site Settings > Site Settings > Communications tab > Enable SMS Messages — turn SMS sending on or off for your brand.

  • Communication > Create Message — shows only Transactional Email as a filter option while SMS is disabled.
